Rino Cavasino

Rino Cavasino, born in Trapani (Sicily) in 1972, studied in Urbino and lives in Florence, where he works for the Ministry of cultural heritage. Selections of his poems have appeared in reviews and anthologies such as “Nodo sottile” (edited by Vittorio Biagini e Andrea Sirotti, Crocetti, 2004), “Oltre il tempo. Undici poeti per una metavanguardia” (edited by Gian Ruggero Manzoni, Diabasis, 2004), “Tratti” (2006), “Atelier” (2007), “L’Italia a pezzi. Antologia dei poeti italiani in dialetto e in altre lingue minoritarie” (edited by the magazine Argo, 2014), “Versante Ripido” (online magazine, 2015 e 2017), “La Terrazza” (2018). He received the “Giacomo Noventa - Romano Pascutto” and “Giuseppe Malattia della Vallata” awards for dialect poetry. In 2013 he published “Il tempestario” (Giraldi), a collection of poems in Italian and Sicilian language (with a preface by Isacco Turina; “Navile” award for unpublished works from the Municipality of Bologna and “Elena Violani Landi” debut award from the “Centro di Poesia Contemporanea” of Bologna University). The bilingual poetry book “Amurusanza”, also including linguistic and critical notes (Coazìnzola Press, 2016, with a preface by Gualtiero De Santi), received the “Salvo Basso” and “Città di Marineo” awards. The unpublished collections “A siti dî morti” (“La sete dei morti”, 2018) and “U pisci spirtu” (“Il pesce spirito”, 2019) were finalists for the “Città di Ischitella - Pietro Giannone” award; “Darrè l’ìsula” (“Dietro l’isola”, 2019) was a finalist for the “Gianmario Lucini” award. Rino Cavasino collaborates with the National Research Institute “Demòpolis”. He is author of the section devoted to ancient history in the book for primary school “Tutto da scoprire” (Il Capitello, 2017). He conceived and curated for the Uffizi Galleries the project “La Galleria Poetica” (2017), an itinerant poetry reading in the halls of Pitti Palace (Florence), a dialogue between images and voices, art and language, in search of “inner museums” (Valentino Zeichen), performed by the poets and translators Elisa Biagini, Rosaria Lo Russo, Valerio Nardoni, Marco Simonelli, Andrea Sirotti, who read their own poems and those of others, in the original language and in translation.
