Saki, aka Hector Hugh Munro, was born in Akyab, Burma, December 18, 1870 and died at Beaumont-Hamel, France, November 13, 1916.
He was a witty, ironic, satirical and macabre writer, and is considered a master of the short story, although he published the novel The Unbearable Bassington. He also wrote for stage and published a historical study, a Parliamentary parody and a fantasy about a future occupation of Great Britain by Germany.
