“Against our bent lives and the glutted greedy people crushing them”.
France is the country Lydie Salvayre expresses her criticism against in this short, but meaningful, text but it might as well be Italy. After all, only an unfinished high-speed railway line divides us.
An outright pamphlet that spares nothing and nobody, even writers, and scrutinizes the main features of our so-called civilized society, attacking it with unceasing boldness.
A book shaking our consciences against inurement, and against acquiescence that makes us blind and deaf to the programmed public destruction. A book reminding us that we still have time left to become aware and to join Lydie Salvayre in a chorus to chant aloud our resolute, unswerving Against. A book to buy, to be quoted, and to be spread.
